The world’s first fully-manned hoverbike looks like a hell of a ride

A quadcopter that you ride like an ATV? Sounds terrifyingly awesome.

Dubai might be getting its first batch of autonomous passenger drones this summer, but this Russian startup wants to fill up the sky with fully-manned hoverbikes.
Human-carrying drone manufacturer Hoversurf has built an impressive single-seat aircraft that not only has the capacity to lift you up in the sky, but also puts the control right into your own hands.

The fully-manned Scorpion-3 fundamentally combines the standard motorcycle design with futuristic quadcopter technology to offer the speed, agility and stability of flight to “the hands of amateur and professional navigators.”
While Hoversurf says its electric airborne vessel is currently mostly seen as an “extreme sports instrument,” the company hopes its invention will soon realize its full “transportation potential.”

Famous sci-fi props, like the flying DeLorean or a scout trooper speeder, are undeniably cool. Unfortunately, their real-world counterparts are often much less so. But with the advent of drones and quadcopters, ambitious engineers are finally building machines that resemble our sci-fi dreams.

Like the Scorpion-3. Created by Russian startup Hoversurf, the aerial bike isn't much more than a giant quadcopter with a seat, but unlike previous prototypes, the Scorpion-3 puts the controls directly in the hands of the pilot. Although this sci-fi machine wants to be the transportation vehicle of the future, right now it's little more than an "extreme sports instrument," according to The Next Web.
